Al Maha, a jewel in the desert

Last week, we spend our wedding anniversary in Al Maha Desert Resort, Dubai, UAE.
Al Maha is a sanctuary for man and beast alike, a nature reserve reviving the surprising desert life.
A photographers paradise!
Designed to reflect a bedouin encampment, Al Maha is full of contradictions. On one side it offers a great luxury with a personalized service, your own private pool, fine food and wine, a signature spa, while on the other hand it's a rare sanctuary in pristine, beauty, tranquillity and peace.
The main resort takes up less than two per cent of the wild expanse in which it is cradled. A total of 225 sqkm gated desert landscape. As part of the conservation initiative, endangered animals are being carefully reintroduced into the wild. A typical example is the beautiful Arabian Oryx which last century was almost extinct. Today, 200 Oryx's can be found in Al Maha while the worldwide population is estimated to be around 3000.
Only about 50km from our home in Dubai, Al Maha was surely a great escape from the busy city life.
